Dracaena Draco

Dracaena Draco

Dragon Tree

The dragon tree (dracaena draco) is an evergreen tree that is strikingly different. It hosts a range of unique features, including grey – green, spiky foliage, a white-creamy flower, and berries that are bright orange in colour. These trees can grow over 10 meters high and 15 meters wide, however they are extremely slow growing and can 25 years to reach just 3 meters tall.

As a young plant, dracaena draco and its sword like leaves makes a perfect feature plant. It only gets better with age, as its branches fork and flowers begin to bloom, transforming it into a living piece of art.

Plant Care:

  1. Dragon trees thrive in full sunlight, however be careful of the hot afternoon sun, especially in summer. A bit of shade to protect it from these conditions is perfect.

  2. Ensure your plant is in extremely free draining soil, as wet roots can be fatal.

  3. If you are growing your dragon tree in the garden, rainfall should be sufficient for water once the plant is established. If potted, you will need to water it occasionally, when the soil is dry to the touch.
